Of all my favorite things to do the utmost is to have a brew. With each thirst quenching elbow bend, beer so frothy, smooth and cold, it’s paradise, pure liquid gold. Yes, beer means many things to me, that’s all for now, I’m off to pee.

The loaner equipment list is located under the Learn To Brew link on the home page of flopsclub.com.  If you have equipment to donate you can drop it off at the Home Brewery where the club stores its collection.  Andy Sparks reports that several items have not been returned recently.  Ash Goodwin indicated that Apple Blossom has items to donate to the club.

Old Business

Club Social July at Fossil Cove. Three members attended the social.  We were given samples, thank you Kort Castleberry, of beers soon to be released.  A good time was had by all three of us.

Brewery Reports

Apple Blossom –  Sturdy Hippy, a beer brewed with sourdough yeast is available.  The firkin is on discount for club members tonight.

Core Brewing –  Tasting room near Pinnacle should be opening soon.

Fossil Cove –  Assistant brewer Kort Castleberry brought a growler of the new Double IPA #2, featuring Chinook hops. The SMASH #5, featuring Vienna malt and Nugget hops, is now available. Two new beers will be out next week.  The SMASH #6 consists of a pale ale malt, Calypso hops pitched with a Belgian yeast resulting in an interesting Belgian pale ale like beer along with a second batch of the Orange Cream Ale.

West Mountain –  Will reports that they have a Belgian Rye beer that they have labeled a saison, an American Wheat and a hoppy Stout as well as their usual’s, the Blonde, Brown and IPA.  He is also letting go of a large amount of home brewing equipment.  Contact him if you are interested.

Opening Soon?

Columbus House Brewing – Will be a brewery with a tasting room located on North St near the train tracks.  Equipment is in place.  No permits as of yet.

New Business

Club Social – August’s social will be held at the Mellow Mushroom. Saturday, Aug 23rd at 2 p.m. Alan Gann’s baby shower.  Diapers optional.

The Cobblestone Project is having a Harvest Party September 12th which includes a home brewing contest to benefit hunger relief in NW Arkansas.

The week of September 15 – 19 is the one year anniversary of the Fayetteville Ale Trail.  Several events to be held at various breweries in the area.  We have been invited to participate at Apple Blossom on the 18th.  We need a head count.  Let Ash know if you plan to attend.

Brewtober Beer and Chili Fest.  October 18th at 5:30 p.m. at St Raphael Grounds in Springdale.  Live music by club member Tony Canova.  Tom Maddock needs brewers to donate beer to the cause for free admission.  Winner of the People’s Choice Award will get the soon to be coveted Master Brewer’s Green Jacket.  Check flopsclub.com for flyers and details.

Home Brewer Reports

Keith Linn brewed a Belgian Wit beer.  Derived from a gruit.  Two mashes.  Chamomile, coriander and orange zest in the last few minutes of the boil.  Enquire if you are interested in brewing a similar beer.

Iron Brewer

September’s ingredient is amber malt.

October’s ingredient will be pumpkin.
