November Meeting Minutes:
Welcome to first time visitors: Chris, Alvarro, & Reese.
The soft opening at Natural State Brewing on Tuesday was a hit, with loads of great beers. Fun was had by all.
The Iron Brewer Competition with the Ozark Zymurgists will be held at the January FLOPS meeting, the style is English Brown Ale (13B).
Recent Event Summaries: GermannFest was awesome, Brewtober was as well, with Randy Germann taking the Green Jacket for his award winning cider / butterbeer.
No update on the Barrel Project, Christopher Abel will continue to be the lead.
Rules and scoring system for a new “Member of the Year” award will be posted soon so that we can vote to create this new category of award. The spirit of the award is for those folks who may not brew a bunch, but contribute significantly to the club and it’s membership.
If you have competed/stewarded/participated in any competitions this year or received any BJCP certifications, please submit evidence of those to Keith Linn to contribute to your Brewer of the Year points.
The Annual FLOPS Christmas Party will be held on December 14th at Kat’s House. An official event will be posted on the Paid Members Facebook page with all the details.
OZ is working on a 4 state brewing competition and could use volunteers / organizers. Hit up Larry McCallister for more info.
The 2020 Q1 Iron Brewer competition will be a SMASH, single malt, single hop, any yeast. Judging will be Best of Show style.
An officer’s meeting will be scheduled soon to discuss club status with regards to 501C status, and determine the best path forward for domain and website hosting.
The education segment consisted of evaluating leftover bottles from Brewtoberfest with official BJCP scoring sheets to guess the style, and to practice scoring. Styles and official scores were presented after the group conducted their scoring for comparison.
Brewer of the Month: Patrick Bohannan for his OctoberFest (v1 & 2).
Ass of the Month: Paul Cascade, because we all voted different, just like Paul.
